On our four-hours plus river-journeying, one person attached themselves to me: and sucked life from me, this to an astonishing extent. They were assisted, perhaps unwittingly, by a friend; and eventually joined by an onboard-acquaintance of theirs. Politeness, the restricted nature of the space, and those who might have defended me fleeing to save themselves, combined to render me relatively helpless in front of an exceptional attack.
